Ugh, I spent soooo much time on this pic, and yet I still don't like it.
This was originally two drawings that became merged into one, and Pip had to be redrawn. He turned out great the first time around, but I didn't think his pose suited the mood I was trying to convey; instead of him facing the viewer I wanted just a simple profile.
Anyways, I've had this idea in my head for a while now, and with Pip's "return" in the most recent chapter of Hellsing I knew I just had to do it. So I filled my playlist with the saddest songs from my music collection and got started. XD;
Please don't complain to me that Seras isn't crying blood. I was tempted to do blood, but I just really wanted to try normal tears for once, so just take it as is. Besides, even after drinking blood for the first time I don't think that makes her quite the vampire that Alucard is. That's my theory, I don't care if you disagree with it, don't make a debate out of it, 'kay? Thanks.

I love Aya, but I rarely ever give him any attention alone. He really is a fun character, so full of attitude and spunk and smex. SOO I chose to dress him up as two other silver-haired bishounen--characters I'd probably never draw otherwise--and voila! ♥ FUN. x3
(...I was also gonna draw him as Yue from Cardcaptor Sakura but by then all my creative juice ran out ;___; SORRY! )
..you know, it's a good thing I have him winking--"tee hee! I'm not Sesshy~ Fooled ya!" because I realized too late that, aside from the bangs, he could be Sesshy's clone XD;; It's the eyes, I tell ya. And as Sephy, he enjoys having his own theme song. "dun dun dun dun SEPHY-ROTH! SEPHY-ROTH!" It's all he can do since the Masamune is a bit too heavy to lift.. XD;;
So yeah this was a lot of fun. ♥

For someone who draws anime a lot, I rarely ever pay homage to the Japanese culture, so I decided to shoot for cherry blossoms and kimonos in this piece. This idea didn't come until after I had Akabane and Ayame's rough sketches down--I was struggling with their usual canon attire, before going "Screw it! I want bare chest action and floppy sleeves!" XD
And, omg, I actually drew my own damn backgrounds this time! :O Oh, the agony of googling photo refs for cherry blossoms and Japanese temples.. Personally, I think sakuras have become quite the cliche in the realm of fanart, but I had to do it at least once. THEN NEVER AGAIN~ xO
Anywaaays... Akabane Kuroudo and Ayame Sohma out for a romantic stroll. I reeeeeally like how they turned out here. :D

I've got new people friended, hooray! ♥ First off, I wanna thank everybody who has friended this journal and keeps tabs on my entries every now and then. :3 It's very uplifting and I don't think I express my gratitude as nearly as I should.
No artwork today, however, I thought I may clue you guys in on my creative process. As much as I would like to make a Photoshop tutorial, I don't think it would be fair to claim my techniques as my own, seeing as most of my CGing knowledge comes from other tutorials I've found over the years. So, just to be fair, here're some nifty links & tips for you artists. ♥
I use a mechanical pencil and a cheap ballpoint pen for my lineart. With pencil you can be as messy as you want, because once you've inked it you can erase all the mess away with a soft, white eraser that won't leave smears. The paper I use is called laser paper, which you can easily buy in bulk at Kinko's. It's very smooth and takes pencil better than ordinary printer paper. I picked this little tidbit up from paintedstrings after doodling together in the hotel room at Yaoi-con '05. ;)
But whether you ink your sketches or just make sure your pencil lines are very clean, I highly recommend using Hellcorpceo's Tutorial on learning how to clean your lineart up in Photoshop. (Just steps 1 and 2) It's really simple, I swear! Once I discovered that I never went back to my old ways again. X3;
Simply put, it teaches you how to put your lineart on a transparent layer--meaning, all the white-ness of your paper is GONE and all that's left are black lines! :D So what's the big deal, you say? Well, when you're adding backgrounds and blending modes to your drawings, all that whiteness of the paper can affect how it looks in the end, because Photoshop still regards white as a color. For TOTAL absence of color, you want that checkered pattern to show. :P
Okay, once you've got your lineart clean and your base colors down, you wanna start cel-shading. I've always found that hunting for the right color to use as a shadow for whatever base color is SUCH A DRAG and difficult when you're trying to emphasize light and mood. And you have to do it for every base color you have. There should be an easier solution, right?
WHY YES, VIRGINIA, THERE IS. ♥ Cel-shading like Zammies is the most useful tutorial I've found when it comes to coloring. Basically, you shade your entire lineart(on a separate layer, of course) with just ONE color--a grayish hue, which you can make warmer or cooler however you please. Then you set that layer's blending mode to 'Multiply', fool around with the Opacity, and VOILA: instant shading! ♥ And it looks neat even without your base colors, should you wanna leave it like that. (When shading, I tend to use the Polygonal Lasso tool;the other one can be a lot more difficult to maneuver without a steady hand.)
So yeah, that's pretty much all I have to offer right now! x3; I hope this was helpful to someone, and if you have any questions at all feel free to ask. ♥

It's been a month since my last work, but I finally have something that started off a few days ago as a "fantastically gay" doodle of Walter. I developed it more by adding Alucard, fixed some perspective issues in Photoshop and edited it. I'm rather happy with this one--normally my subjects always go off the page and their feet/legs are cut off, but here both characters' bodies are fully displayed, so yay! on that.
( No spiffy title yet, *cry*... )
Though right now I REALLY wanna throw a chair, because during the editing process Photoshop fucked up and deleted all of the nifty brushes I had saved. -_- That's two years' worth of scouring the web for quality Photoshop brushes FLUSHED DOWN THE TOILET. *kills computer*
So hopefully my sacrifice wasn't in vain, and you all like it... 6__6;

This is Lilith, a character from Trinity Blood. Without spoiling much, she's long dead before the series begins. :< But anyway, I wanted to draw something astonishingly pretty, so I chose Lilith as my subject. I used the manga as a reference for her clothes. I chose not to add her crucifix, because that would flood the picture with more than enough detail. I tried a few new things here, and I'm really happy with the finished result. Yay! ♥
